Coming up in September 2025 I get to teach with two of my faves! I am co-teaching a brand new workshop with Kelley Knickerbocker, and then I am hosting, assisting and translating for Dino Maccini at Rhona Duffy's new teaching space, Studio 164, in Falkirk, Scotland.
Out of Line: Challenging Thinking in Mosaic Practice
Sept. 19-21, 2025
In this three-day workshop Kelley and I bring our combined wit and wisdom to engage students in lively dialogue around the essential principles of andamento and design, reveling in the resilience of those principles while collectively questioning, pushing, stretching and breaching them in discussion and in the execution of a series of exercises on small substrates.
Interstices, material choices, the relationship of each tessera to the ones around it, line interruptions, use of mortar, the proportion/shape of tesserae and more will all be fair game; not only as to how they define andamento/mosaic but as to whether/how they can be applied to and vitally inform mosaic-adjacent work such as assemblage and collage.
Level: Intermediate. Pre-requisite: Understanding of andamento principles.

3-D Moonlight Reflections with Dino Maccini
Sept. 24-28, 2025
Working with Dino Maccini is always a highlight of my year, and this year I am hosting him in Scotland! Join us in this 5-day workshop, where Dino will share one of his 3-dimensional techniques, and reveal his approach to creating gradations and reflections.
We always have a lot of fun working together, and I am really looking forward to this time spent in Scotland!
